French Fries make the ideal snack for iftar with ketchup or any sauce because they are crispy, tasty, and the perfect starter to an iftar meal. Although the French Fries originated from Belgium, the recipe has reached all corners of the world and the fries are a beloved starter to any meal, which includes iftar as well.

French Fries Ingredients

3 Russet potatoes
1 cup oil

Seasoning Ingredients

3/4 tsp garlic powder
3/4 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp paprika powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp chilli flakes
1/4 tsp black pepper powder
  • Method & Directions

  1. Prepare Potatoes

    Peel the potatoes and rinse them. Cut each potato into 1/4 to 1/3 inch thick slices. Cut these slices into 1/4 to 1/3 inch thick sticks. Put potatoes in a large bowl of cold water and place in refrigerator for 2 hours. Remove from refrigerator and drain potatoes and wash them with cold water. Strain potatoes in a colander and dry them with a kitchen towel. Spread them on a baking sheet.
  2. Fry Potatoes

    Add oil to a deep heavy bottom pan and heat on a medium flame. When the oil sizzles, add fries to the pan. Keep moving the fries with a turner, so they do not burn. Fry potatoes until golden brown on all sides. Remove the fries on a baking sheet and let them cool a bit and dry out.
  3. Add Seasoning and Serve

    Add all seasoning ingredients to a bowl and mix properly. Add fries to the bowl and blend them with the seasoning without breaking them. Serve right away.
