Qataris Can Now Travel to the U.S. for 90 Days Visa-Free

The United States announced on September 24, 2024 that Qatar is being added to its Visa Waiver Program, allowing Qatari citizens to visit the U.S. without a visa for up to 90 days. This change, set to take effect no later than December 1, marks Qatar as the first Gulf nation to be included in the program.

Key Player in International Relations

Qatar has earned recognition for its contributions to international diplomacy, playing an important role in mediation efforts during conflicts, including the ongoing Gaza crisis and assisting with the release of hostages. The U.S. highlighted Qatar’s security cooperation and its efforts in human rights advocacy, particularly in relation to the Taliban and assistance in Sudan.

Meeting Strict US Security Standards

To qualify for the Visa Waiver Program, Qatar had to meet strict U.S. standards related to counterterrorism, immigration, and law enforcement. This required significant collaboration between the two nations, with Qatar showing strong commitment to security measures.
