The FIFA Intercontinental Cup is making its debut, bringing a fresh wave of excitement to football fans in the region. This new tournament will temporarily replace the annual Club World Cup, which will return in 2025 with an expanded format featuring 32 teams.

New Format, Fresh Excitement

This revamped competition will feature five matches, with Doha hosting three of them. The tournament kicked off yesterday, September 22, 2024, with the first match taking place in the UAE and the second in Cairo, Egypt, on October 29.

Doha will take center stage starting December 11, when it hosts Match 3, known as the “Derby of the Americas.” The excitement continues on December 14 with the Challenger Cup, where teams will compete for a spot in the final.

A Grand Finale on Qatar National Day

The tournament will culminate on December 18, coinciding with Qatar National Day. The final match will feature the Challenger Cup winners facing Real Madrid, the reigning champions of the UEFA Champions League, for the ultimate title.
