Qatar Extends Tax Return Deadline by 4 Mos. for 2024 Filings

The General Tax Authority (GTA) has extended the deadline for submitting tax returns for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2024, by four months. Taxpayers now have until August 31, 2025, instead of the previous April 30 deadline.

Who qualifies for the extension?

The extension applies to all individuals and entities covered by Qatar’s Income Tax Law No. (24) of 2018 and its amendments. This includes tax-exempt companies, businesses owned by Qatari nationals or GCC citizens, and companies with non-Qatari partners.

However, businesses in the petroleum and petrochemical sectors are excluded from this extension and must still file their returns by April 30, 2025.

Linked to the 100% penalty exemption

This decision aligns with the GTA’s 100% Financial Penalty Exemption Initiative, giving taxpayers more time to meet their obligations while benefiting from the penalty waiver. The extension also allows taxpayers to carefully review their data and use GTA’s services for a smoother filing process.

Filing through Dhareeba Portal

The GTA encourages all taxpayers to file electronically via the Dhareeba Tax Portal. For assistance, taxpayers can contact the Call Center at 16565 or reach out via email.
