World Cup 1970

Only three months before the start of the tournament, the Brazilian Confederation took a decision to appoint Mario Zagallo as a coach for the samba stars to succeed Joao Saldania, and some believe that the reason for his dismissal was his exclusion of Pele from the Brazil squad in the finals, which resulted in widespread public anger.

Brazil reached the final without any difficulty, as it overcame Uruguay by three goals in the semi-finals, and before that easily beat Peru by four goals to two, after achieving the full mark in the group stage, which witnessed its most difficult match in the tournament against the strong England team the titleholder of the previous edition, as the match ended with a difficult Brazilian 1-0 victory.

In the final match hosted by the Azteca Stadium in Mexico, Brazil faced Italy and beat them 4-1, Brazil goals scored by Pele, Carlos Alberto Torres, and Jairzinho "2 goals"
