Motorsport superstar Valentino Rossi, famously known as 'The Doctor,' is set to ignite the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season opener at Lusail International Circuit (LIC). Racing enthusiasts can mark their calendars for the Qatar Airways Qatar 1812 KM, scheduled from February 26 to 28, 2025.

Rossi’s return to Lusail comes on the heels of an impressive rookie WEC season in 2024, where he secured 6th in the championship standings. Highlights included a 4th-place finish at LIC and a silver podium at the 6 Hours of Imola.

From Two Wheels to Four

Rossi’s connection to Lusail dates back to 2004, when he first conquered the circuit in MotoGP aboard his Yamaha YZR-M1. He continued to dominate the track on two wheels until his MotoGP retirement in 2021. In 2024, he made a stunning comeback—this time on four wheels—piloting a BMW M4 GT3 in WEC.

For 2025, Rossi remains in the BMW M4 GT3, sharing the cockpit with Omani racer Ahmed Al Harthy. The Italian icon has hinted that this might be his final full WEC season, as he plans to scale back his racing calendar. “Sixteen races is too much. My goal is to focus on 10 to 11 endurance events next year,” Rossi shared in an interview.
