Three More Israeli Hostages Freed as Gaza Ceasefire Holds

Three Israeli hostages were released in Gaza on Saturday as part of the ongoing ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, marking another phase in the carefully brokered truce.

Under the terms of the agreement, Hamas committed to freeing 33 hostages—including women, children, and elderly or injured individuals—in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and detainees held in Israeli custody.

The ceasefire, initially designed to last six weeks, also included a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces from key positions in Gaza.

Prior to Saturday’s release, 16 of the agreed 33 hostages had already been freed, along with five Thai nationals who were unexpectedly included in an earlier exchange. However, an estimated 76 hostages remain in Gaza, with only about half believed to be alive.

The ceasefire was established to pave the way for further negotiations, with hopes of securing the release of the remaining captives and achieving a complete withdrawal of Israeli troops. Meanwhile, Gaza continues to face a severe humanitarian crisis, with infrastructure devastated and essential resources such as food, water, and electricity in dangerously short supply.

As talks continue, the international community watches closely, hopeful that the temporary truce could lead to a more lasting resolution in the war-torn region.
