Qatar Breaks Tourism Records with 5 Million Visitors in 2024

Qatar has made history, surpassing the five-million-visitor mark in 2024—a 25% jump from the previous year—underscoring its growing reputation as a world-class tourism hub.

Massive Growth in Tourism

This milestone highlights Qatar’s strategic success in positioning itself as a family-friendly, premier destination. His Excellency Saad Bin Ali Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, celebrated the achievement:

“Surpassing five million visitors is a landmark accomplishment for Qatar. This growth, alongside the exceptional sale of nearly 10 million room nights, showcases our ability to provide unique experiences and service excellence at every touchpoint.”

HE Al Kharji emphasized the country’s ambitious goals to triple visitor numbers and double tourism spending by 2030, aiming for a total GDP contribution of 10–12%.

Diverse Visitors and Key Markets

GCC nationals accounted for 41% of tourists, with 59% arriving from international markets, including Saudi Arabia, India, the UK, Germany, and the US. Qatar’s appeal spans across cultures, drawing in visitors via air (56%), land (37%), and sea (7%).

Record-Breaking Hospitality

Qatar’s hospitality industry has flourished, surpassing 40,000 hotel keys in 2024. The year witnessed peaks during major events like the AFC Asian Cup in January and the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix, with Saudi visitors contributing significantly during the November school holidays.
