HH The Amir Reaffirms Palestinian State as Key to ME Peace

HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has once again emphasized the importance of a sovereign Palestinian state as the foundation for stability in the Middle East.

In a statement following the Extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo, Sheikh Tamim called for collective action to support Palestinians in securing their full legitimate rights, including East Jerusalem as their capital. He reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to working with regional allies to push for a just and lasting resolution.

Arab Leaders Back Gaza Reconstruction Plan

During the summit, Arab leaders approved an Egyptian-led reconstruction plan for Gaza, rejecting U.S. proposals to relocate its 2.3 million residents. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi announced a phased approach, starting with de-mining and temporary housing, followed by a long-term rebuilding strategy.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas expressed support for the plan and urged international backing for a solution that ensures Palestinians remain in their homeland. However, the proposal received criticism from Israel and the U.S., with the White House stating that it fails to address the humanitarian crisis on the ground.

With tensions high and the region at a critical crossroads, the question remains: Will global leaders align on a sustainable path to peace?
