TIME Magazine: Doha is One of The World's Greatest Places of 2022

Doha's strong cultural scene is centered on art galleries and other exhibition venues, and much of the architecture of the city is influenced by its heritage and customs.

Doha is one of 50 locations from around the world that TIME Magazine has chosen as one of "The World's Greatest Places of 2022."

The journal claims that when producing the list, it solicited nominations from its "global network of correspondents and contributors, with an eye toward those delivering unique and intriguing experiences."

Only two of the 50 destinations that make up "The World's Greatest Places of 2022" are from the Gulf region, and Doha is one of them.

Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates made the list as well for its extreme theme parks.

Doha was picked for its World Cup marvels as the country gears up for the beginning of the largest football event in history in November.

The publication emphasized Qatar's preparations for hosting football fans from around the world, stressing the many hotels and lodgings slated to open later this year as well as shuttle flights in collaboration with four GCC airlines anticipated to enable convenient access to Doha.

The list features the renowned landmark Museum of Islamic Art as well as the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museums, the first museum in the area entirely devoted to sports.

The latter is scheduled to reopen after renovations just in time for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The museum, which is one of the most contemporary sports museums in the world, uses engrossing storytelling techniques to explain the nation's passion for sports throughout history.

It is jam-packed with informative displays, motivational artifacts, and activity zones designed for a range of visitors. In 3-2-1, the importance of sports is examined along with its growth and cultural relevance in Qatar and elsewhere.

3-2-1, which aims to be the global information and sports history hub, is a part of the Olympic Museum Network, which at the moment consists of 22 Olympic museums throughout the world.

The MIA is a unique museum that gives visitors the chance to see outstanding works of art. Its collection of 21,000 books includes 2,000 rare editions in both Arabic and English.

The structure was created by Pritzker Prize-winning architect I.M. Pei, and it is situated on an artificial island not far from Doha's waterfront promenade.

The magnificent IDAM restaurant, managed by renowned chef Alain Ducasse, is housed within the museum's five stories and offers both temporary and permanent exhibits, a gift shop, a café, and other amenities.

It offers a wide range of cultural events all year long, including performances by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, movie screenings, and calligraphy and group painting classes.

Growing Art Scene in Qatar

Everything from traditional Islamic arts and artifacts to modern and contemporary art can be seen in Qatar's museums.

Doha's strong cultural scene is centered on art galleries and other exhibition venues, and much of the architecture of the city is influenced by its heritage and customs. Every museum has a history, most of which is reflected in the building's design and the pieces of art that are shown there.

The cultural creativity of the area has long flourished in Qatar. It obtained the moniker by providing artists with the freedom to create, evaluate, and comprehend works of art from diverse nations and eras.
