Team Base Camp Line-Up Shows Compact Structure of FIFA World Cup 2022

The most condensed FIFA World Cup since the 1930 edition will have a Team Base Camp (TBC) for each of the 31 participating teams. The same first-rate facilities will be used throughout the competition, so no domestic flights are necessary. Therefore, for this edition, formal practice sessions will also be placed at the appropriate practice facilities the day before the games.

Players will want to prolong their stay from the guaranteed 15 days to 33 days, an achievement reserved only for the finals, at their Team Base Camp Hotels (TBCHs), where teams will check in at least five days prior to their first match.

24 of the 32 teams will remain within a 10-kilometer radius of one another as part of the FIFA World Cup 2022's distinctive features, further ensuring that the event's electrifying atmosphere is concentrated in and around Doha, for the enjoyment of local and international fans.

"Qatar 2022 will be a World Cup unlike any other, with teams taking advantage of its small size and friendly locals. According to Colin Smith, FIFA's Chief Operating Officer for the World Cup, players will have more time to train and rest during the competition while being able to enjoy the excitement that will sweep the nation at much closer range.

"We're happy to let fans witness the world-class facilities that Qatar has constructed for their national teams," said Nasser Al Khater, CEO of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Legacy planning has been important in all of our World Cup projects, and many of the restored and new training facilities will continue to serve local clubs and communities long after the competition is over. After 2022, the additional hotels will help Qatar's expanding tourism sector.

The Concept

A TBC is a participating team's base of operations during the FIFA World Cup competition. It combines an exclusive Team Base Camp Training Site (TBCTS) with an appropriate hotel or other types of lodging (TBCH).

During the competition, three different types of training locations will be used: neighborhood clubs, cluster training facilities, and stadium training locations.

Many have been newly constructed or rebuilt, and they serve as a significant element of the tournament's legacy for Qatar's grassroots football.

The TBCHs include lodging for schools and universities as well as four- and five-star hotels, villas, resorts, and other non-hotel accommodations.

Wellbeing Of Employees at Tbchs

Both FIFA and the host nation take seriously their obligation to protect the rights of workers. FIFA and Qatar are putting into place an unparalleled due diligence procedure as part of their measures to safeguard the rights and welfare of employees at 159 hotels in total, including all of those that will host competing teams.

Together with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, trade unions, other impartial monitors, and the International Labour Organization are all involved in this job that is being done.
