At these locations, make your next grocery trip more environmentally friendly.

There's a decent probability that you can grab something made of plastic right now.

Despite being one of the 20th century's most valuable innovations and one of the most pernicious, the material is so pervasive that it appears difficult to escape.

You want to lessen your carbon footprint, right? For a Doha grocery run without using plastic, go to these locations.

Evergreen Organics

Going plastic-free while shopping and being a vegan often go hand in hand. If you visit Evergreen Organics in The Gate Mall, you can buy a variety of necessities without having to worry about harming the environment. You may purchase glass jars and other containers from Torba and fill them with spices or household products like hand soap and dishwashing detergent (more on that in a moment). Even better, you can receive a 10% discount on your transaction when you bring your own container for coffee or food takeout.

LuLu Hypermarket

Because of its wide variety of foods from around the world, we think of LuLu Hypermarket as something of a paradise, but if you visit one of the chain's more recent stores, you'll discover still another reason we adore it: refill stations. For a plastic-free shopping experience, visit the branch in Abu Sidra Mall or Ain Khaled. There, you'll find sizable refill stations with pasta, rice, beans, and more. You can either buy (or bring) your own container or use a recyclable paper bag.

Monoprix

 We'll use any justification to visit the Iconic 2022 structure, but anyone wishing to shop in Doha without using plastic should head straight for the Monoprix.

In addition to a vast selection of Torba items, this location has a refill station with dried goods like beans, nuts, and spices. 

Reward yourself with a coffee from Flat White next door after you're finished.

Torba Store

You may be familiar with the name Torba from the seasonal farmers' market in Education City (and, more recently, Msheireb Downtown Doha), but you can also shop for produce, bread, and other things at the Torba Store without worrying about plastic. There are several local shops to visit in addition to Torba's own-brand products, such as Vitamin Bar, Kombucha Sahili, and Nature's Treasures. Bring the kids and they can enjoy the kid-friendly food at the café or participate in the QR35 instructional gardening classes that are held on Thursdays and Saturdays.
