QF Plans to Turn Education City Stadium Into Hotspot for Women's Sport

Qatar Foundation (QF) plans to transform the Education City stadium into a place for girls and women to play sports and host events about improving women's physical and mental health.

This comes within the framework of Qatar's efforts to make sports accessible and inclusive to all, Director of World Cup Legacy at QF, Alexandra Chalat, told local daily Arrayah.

Chalat said that QF aims to develop a destination that appeals to women's requirements for amenities, sportswear, and lifestyle in order to empower them.

The plan aims to make it easy for women to exercise, which may be represented in women's-only training areas, and training facilities for national teams, she added.

However, Chalat did not explain when the plan will come into effect.

Moreover, the stadium will also host kid-friendly educational events after being renovated.

QF is collaborating with several local and international organizations and experts, as well as former sports advisers to apply the plan, she said.

During FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the stadium saw a cumulative attendance of around 350,000 people.
