Qatar's Youth to Participate in Carrying FIFA Flags in the World Cup

Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development revealed its cooperation with the Chinese "Wanda" Group, the official partner of the International Football Association "FIFA", with the aim of providing the opportunity for young football fans in Qatar to take to the pitches carrying FIFA flags, during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and creating the enthusiastic atmosphere before the players enter and the whistle of the match begins in front of tens of thousands of fans.

Qatar Foundation stated, in a statement, that this partnership came to promote empowerment through sport, as the opportunity to participate in carrying the FIFA flag is available to young people registered in the “Commune sport” classes at Qatar Foundation 2022-2023, which offers more than 120 classes in a various type of sports, including water sports, racquet sports, team sports, and martial arts.

The FIFA flag bearers will participate in preparing the atmosphere for the celebrations before the start of each match of the tournament, and before the players enter the stadium, where they will raise these flags on the field.

More than 250 places are available to participate in carrying the FIFA flags, and they will be allocated to those enrolled in various sports, cultural and community programs at Qatar Foundation, including "Commune sport" classes.

Alexandru Rusca, Acting Director of Community Engagement and Activities at Qatar Foundation expressed his happiness to continue the partnership with the Chinese “Wanda Group” through the sports and community programs offered within the inclusive environment of Education City, which welcomes everyone.

He continued: "With the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 approaching and the enthusiastic atmosphere that will fill the stadiums soon, this cooperation will give the young people participating in the "Commune sport" classes, the opportunity to be at the center of this event, and we hope that this experience will inspire them to strive towards achieving their future goals, whether in sports or in their lives in general.

Qatar Foundation's Commune Sport classes, led by a group of experienced coaches, provide a platform for young people to practice sports, learn skills, and make new friends.

To qualify to join the “FIFA Flag Bearers” program, the participants must be between 12 and 16 years old by November 20, 2022, and complete vaccination doses against the Coronavirus (Covid-19) in line with the instructions of the Ministry of Public Health, in addition to registering them in one of the classes Commune Sports Affiliate of Qatar Foundation.

The cooperation between Qatar Foundation and China’s Wanda Group in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is an extension of a long-term partnership between the two sides, which previously resulted in providing exceptional experiences to more than 200 young people from Qatar Foundation schools.

Other youth will also be selected to join the FIFA flag bearers from various schools in Qatar, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
