Qatar's Beach Volleyball Advances to Semifinals in Olympics

Qatar’s beach volleyball duo, Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, have secured a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics semifinals after a decisive win against the US team of Bartin Miles and Benish Andrew.

Straight Sets Victory Secures Semifinal Spot

The Qatari team clinched their fifth consecutive victory in the tournament with a straight sets win, 21-14 and 21-16, against the American duo. This win propels them into the semifinals, where they will face Sweden's David Ahman and Jonathan Hellvig—a team they had previously defeated 2-1 during the group stage.

Qatar’s Olympic Journey Continues

This marks Qatar's third consecutive participation in the Olympics, and the team is looking to build on their previous successes. Their track record includes gold medals at the Asian Games in 2018 and 2022, as well as a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The team is determined to add another milestone to their impressive list of achievements.

Qatari Officials Praise the Team’s Performance

Mohamed Salem Al Kuwari, a member of the Qatar Volleyball Association’s board and the head of Qatar's delegation at the Paris 2024 Olympics, praised the team for their strong performance and resilience. He emphasized that qualifying for the semifinals is a testament to their hard work and determination. Al Kuwari also noted that today's match was particularly challenging, as a loss at this stage would have meant elimination after all the efforts they had invested to reach this point.

Qatar’s beach volleyball team is now focused on their upcoming match against Sweden, as they aim to continue their journey toward Olympic glory.
