Qatar Wins 9 Medals at West Asia Table Tennis Championship

Team Qatar has achieved remarkable success at the 2024 West Asia Table Tennis Championship, held in Jordan's Sports Palace Hall in Al Hussein Youth City. The Qatari team brought home a total of nine medals: three gold, five silver, and one bronze, marking a significant victory for the nation.

Gold Medal Wins

The under-17 team, consisting of Sultan Khalid Al Kuwari, Abbad Al Abdullah, Ahmed Eid Qarni, and Rawad Al Nasser, clinched the gold medal after a sweeping 3-0 victory against Bahrain in the final match. Similarly, the under-15 team, featuring Mohammed Al Sulaiti, Abdulaziz Al Abdullah, and Youssef Abdul-Dhaher, won gold after defeating Saudi Arabia 3-1 in their final.

Silver and Bronze Success

The under-13 team, represented by Issa Al Haddad, Abdulaziz Al Abdullah, and Rabia Al Kuwari, secured a silver medal after a close 2-3 loss to Syria. The under-11 junior teams also earned silver medals, with Rabia Al Kuwari and Mubarak Marzouq Al Mansouri losing 2-3 to Syria in one category, and Dana Al Kaabi and Serene Sheikh also finishing second in another.

In the senior category, Qatar’s women’s team earned a bronze medal, adding to the country’s overall tally of nine medals in the tournament.

Qatar Federation President Praises Team's Performance

Khalil Al Mohannadi, President of the Qatar Table Tennis Federation, expressed pride in the team's achievements, noting that the results reflect the strong preparation and training leading up to the tournament. He highlighted the importance of both external and internal training camps that contributed to the team's success and expressed optimism for further victories as the tournament continues.

Players Celebrate Team Spirit

Players from the winning teams also shared their excitement and pride. U-17 player Abbad Nasser Al Abdullah described winning the gold medal as a significant honor and a motivator for future successes. Junior team player Rabia Khaled Al Kuwari echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the team's solidarity and the collective effort that led to their achievements.

Looking Ahead to More Victories

With the team competitions concluded, the focus now shifts to the doubles and singles events. Team Qatar is hopeful for more medals as the tournament progresses.
