Qatar to Host Exciting Formula 1 Sprint Race Weekend in 2025

Formula 1 enthusiasts, get ready for a thrilling ride! Qatar is set to host the final Sprint race weekend of the 2025 Formula 1 season, from November 28 to 30, at the Lusail International Circuit. This exciting event will wrap up a season featuring six sprint race weekends, with Belgium replacing Austria as the only change from the 2024 calendar.

Austria's Spielberg's Red Bull Ring, which hosted sprints for three consecutive years, will revert to the traditional Grand Prix format. The 2025 season will kick off its sprint weekends with the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai from March 21 to 23. Following this, Miami, USA, will host from May 2 to 4, and the Belgian Grand Prix will take place from July 25 to 27.

The action continues with the US Grand Prix in Austin from October 17 to 19, and the Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paulo from November 7 to 9, before culminating in Doha. Sao Paulo’s Interlagos has been a staple for sprints since the format's introduction in 2021, featuring a Saturday 100km race offering points for the top eight finishers, leading up to Sunday’s main event.

This year’s sprint format has seen qualifying on Friday and the sprint race on Saturday morning, ahead of the grand prix qualifying session. With three of the season's last six races being sprints, the format has been praised for enhancing the excitement of the F1 weekends.

Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali expressed his enthusiasm for the sprint format, highlighting its popularity among fans and its positive impact on audience engagement. “We’re seeing the proof of this in our audience data, fan attendance on Fridays, and from the promoters and partners,” Domenicali stated.

The 2025 season will commence in Australia from March 14 to 16, promising a year full of high-speed drama and entertainment.

2025 Sprint Race Schedule:

  • March 21-23: Chinese Grand Prix
  • May 2-4: Miami Grand Prix
  • July 25-27: Belgian Grand Prix
  • October 17-19: US Grand Prix
  • November 7-9: Brazilian Grand Prix
