Qatar Rejects Trump’s Call to Relocate Palestinians

During a six-party Arab ministerial meeting in Cairo, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, reaffirmed the country's strong opposition to any plans to relocate Palestinians from Gaza.

He warned that such actions would only escalate tensions in the occupied territories and deepen Palestinian suffering.

The meeting, hosted by Egypt, brought together foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, and Palestine, along with the Secretary-General of the Arab League. Discussions centered on preventing forced displacement, maintaining the Gaza ceasefire, ensuring sustained humanitarian aid, and supporting UNRWA in its relief efforts.

Unified Arab Rejection of Trump’s Proposal

Arab leaders collectively dismissed Trump’s call for Egypt and Jordan to absorb Palestinians from Gaza, citing risks to regional stability. In a joint statement, the ministers condemned any attempts to alter the Palestinian demographic, whether through settlement expansion, evictions, or annexation.

“We affirm our rejection of any actions that compromise Palestinians' unalienable rights, including forced displacement under any circumstances,” the statement read.

Despite this rejection, the group expressed a willingness to engage with the Trump administration on achieving lasting peace in the region through a two-state solution.

Recognition of Qatar and Egypt’s Ceasefire Mediation

The joint statement also praised Qatar and Egypt for their successful mediation efforts in securing a ceasefire and facilitating hostage exchanges in Gaza, reinforcing their crucial role in maintaining regional stability.
