Qatar Museums Offers Free Entry on International Museum Day

To mark International Museum Day, Qatar Museums (QM) is offering free entry to all its museums and exhibitions on May 17 and 18, 2024.

Museums Participating

Visitors can enjoy the collections and exhibits at the National Museum of Qatar, the Museum of Islamic Art, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, and other QM venues. All temporary exhibitions will also be open for free during these dates.

International Museum Day

International Museum Day, coordinated by the International Council of Museums, is celebrated annually around May 18. This year's theme, "Museums for Education and Research," highlights the role of museums in promoting learning, discovery, and cultural understanding.

In addition to free entry, Qatar Museums is hosting two special public events:

1. Event at 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum:

- Title: "International Museum Day: The Power of Museums in Building a Sustainable Future"

- Date: May 16, 2024

- Time: 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM

- Activities: Live theatrical performance, panel discussions, workshops, and a guided museum tour.

Qatar Museums Offers Free Entry on International Museum Day

2. Workshop at the Museum of Islamic Art:

- Title: "International Museum Day: Shapes and Structures"

- Date: May 22, 2024

- Time: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM

- Description: Participants will collaborate on building 3D structures inspired by Islamic art, led by sculptor Adam Williamson. Registration is required.

Year-Round Free Entry

Qatar Museums offers free entry year-round to Qatari nationals and residents with a valid QID, encouraging the public to explore its extensive arts and cultural offerings.
