Qatar Hosts Auditions for 2024 Changwon K-pop World Festival

The Embassy of South Korea in Qatar is hosting regional preliminary auditions for the 2024 Changwon K-pop World Festival. Set to take place in October 2024 in Changwon, South Korea, the festival is a global celebration of K-pop talent.

Who Can Participate?

Anyone residing in Qatar can audition, regardless of nationality. While there are no age or gender restrictions, participants are recommended to be at least 16 years old. Korean nationals are advised to contact the Embassy before participating.

Categories and Selection

Participants can compete in two categories:

- Dance: Up to 2 teams or solo performers

- Vocal: Up to 1 team or solo performer

The winners will be selected by a panel of independent judges based on choreography, charm, stage control, and charisma, with a total score of 100 points.

How to Apply

To enter, applicants must submit:

1. Video Performance: A dance or vocal performance video recorded with clear audio and lighting.

2. Interview Video: An interview introducing themselves, their motivation, choice of music, favorite K-pop artist, and a message to the judges. The interview must be in English and recorded as a bust shot.

Both videos and a completed application form must be sent to [email protected] by July 18, 2024. If the video files are too large, submissions can be made via an accessible online link.

Announcement of Results

The results of the regional preliminaries will be announced on the Embassy's Instagram and Facebook accounts by August 11, 2024.

Path to the Main Competition

Winning the regional preliminaries does not guarantee a spot in the main competition in Korea. The Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), the event host, will make the final selection. Chosen participants will have their airfare and accommodation covered for the event in October 2024.
