Qatar Declares Official Holidays on November 6-7, 2024

Qatar has declared Wednesday and Thursday, November 6-7, 2024, as official holidays to celebrate the national unity demonstration following the country's general referendum on proposed amendments to its Permanent Constitution. The announcement was made by the Amiri Diwan, the royal court of the Emir of Qatar.

Holiday Details

The holiday will apply to both public and private sector employees, with work resuming on Sunday, November 10, 2024. In addition, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education confirmed that the break also extends to students and staff in all public and private schools across the country.

Purpose of the Break

This move comes as Qatar celebrates the national unity and involvement of its citizens in the referendum process, a significant step in the country's constitutional history. The national holiday serves to acknowledge the importance of the referendum and the participation of Qatari citizens in shaping the nation's future.

Employees are encouraged to enjoy a short break as the country reflects on this major milestone.
