Qatar Announces Ramadan Working Hours for Gov't Employees

Qatar’s Cabinet has set the official working hours for government employees during Ramadan, following recommendations from the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau. Public sector employees will work five hours a day, from 9 AM to 2 PM.

Flexible Start Times and Remote Work Options

Employees can adjust their start time up to 10 AM, as long as they complete the required five-hour workday. Additionally, up to 30% of the workforce will be allowed to work remotely, with priority given to Qatari mothers and people with disabilities, ensuring that operations continue smoothly.

Special Schedules for Key Sectors

The Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education will determine their own work schedules based on their specific needs.

Private Sector Work Timings May Vary

Private sector employees are advised to check with their company’s HR department for Ramadan-specific working hours, as regulations may differ from one organization to another.
