Qatar and Jordan Airlines Agree on Flight Capacity Constraints Removal

In an effort to increase bilateral air travel, Qatar and Jordan have decided to permit designated airlines to fly any number of flights, according to a report from Doha's national news agency (QNA) on Wednesday.

According to QNA, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the lifting of limits on the number of flights between the two countries was signed by the civil aviation authorities of both nations.

Mohamed Faleh Alhajri, president of the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), and Haitham Misto, chief commissioner of the Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC), presided over the signing.

The QCAA and CARC held a "fruitful" meeting to discuss improving the aviation connections between the two nations, according to Petra, Jordan's news agency.

The latest MoU was signed after a March deal was signed between the two parties, allowing Jordanian businesses to connect to more regions of the world.

According to a report published in April by the news agency in Amman (Petra), which used information from the Planning and Statistics Authority in Doha, bilateral trade between Qatar and Jordan increased by 32% in the first quarter of 2022. (PSA).

In comparison to the same period last year, trade between the two nations reached $41 million in the first three months of this year, up from $31 million.

Fruits and vegetables, frozen foods, animals, and medical supplies like pharmaceuticals, marble, and phosphate are just a few of the products that Qatar imports from Jordan.

During the GCC's reconciliation last year following the 2017 crisis, an increase in exports to Qatar of 10% to 15% was anticipated.

The ability of commerce trucks to enter the nation through Saudi Arabia's border rather than shipping them by air was the key contributor to the growth.

Due to allegations that Qatar sponsored terrorism at the time of the crisis, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt implemented illegal land, air, and sea blockage on the country. They have been refuted by Qatar.

Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar vowed to create 10,000 jobs for Jordanians on his first visit to Jordan in 2014 in 2020. Additionally, he had promised to contribute $30 million to the military pension fund in Amman.

The two countries signed an agreement on mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and special passports during the two-day visit. Another MoU was made between the Jordanian Government Investments Management Company and the Qatar Investment Authority (GIMC).
