Qatar Airways Suspends Beirut Flights Amid Rising Tensions

Qatar Airways has suspended all flights to and from Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport until Wednesday, September 25, due to the intensifying conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

The airline cited escalating tensions in the region as the reason for its decision, following Israeli airstrikes that have killed at least 492 people, including 35 children, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.

The airline issued a statement prioritizing the safety of passengers, explaining that the suspension was a precautionary measure as the situation in Lebanon continues to deteriorate.

The latest surge of violence began last October, with Hezbollah supporting Gaza amidst Israeli attacks, further destabilizing the region. As the conflict worsens, other international airlines, such as Lufthansa, Air France, and Delta Air Lines, have also temporarily halted flights to Beirut.

Qatar Airways had previously banned pagers and walkie-talkies on Beirut-bound flights following a series of explosions linked to Israeli strikes, which caused significant casualties.

Regional airlines remain on high alert, continuously evaluating the safety of flight routes as the security situation evolves.
