Lusail Stadium to Host Real Madrid in Intercontinental Cup

Doha is set to take center stage for the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup, featuring three high-profile matches with champions from six different continental federations. The iconic Lusail Stadium will be the grand setting for the final on December 18, where European giants Real Madrid will be vying for glory.

Stadium 974 in Doha will also host two key matches in this revamped tournament. The action kicks off with the "Derby of the Americas" on December 11, pitting Mexico's 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup winners, CF Pachuca, against the 2024 CONMEBOL Libertadores champions, to be crowned on November 30.

The excitement continues on December 14 when either UAE’s Al Ain or Egypt’s Al Ahly will challenge the Derby of the Americas' winner for the coveted Challenger Cup in Doha. The stakes will be high, with a spot in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup Final against Real Madrid on the line.

The 2024 Intercontinental Cup, which replaced the annual Club World Cup, brings a fresh format to global football. It will now be held every four years, featuring 32 teams starting in 2025.

This year's tournament kicked off on September 22, with Al Ain dominating Auckland City 6-2 in the African-Asian-Pacific Cup Play-Off.

Al Ain’s next big test comes against Al Ahly on October 29 for the African-Asian-Pacific Cup, setting the stage for a thrilling journey to the final.
