Katara Launches Promotional Campaign in Latin America

Last Wednesday, the Public International Diplomacy Network headed by the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) launched Cuba the promotional campaign for "Qatari Public Diplomacy in Latin America", which is scheduled to run until July 29.

The campaign is headed by Engineer Darwish Ahmed Al Shaibani, Secretary-General of the International Public Diplomatic Network, with the participation of HE Mr. Jamal Nasser Al-Badr, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Cuba, HE Mr. Oscar Leon González, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Qatar, and HE Mr. Juan Antonio Fernández, representative of the Network in the Cuban capital, Havana. and His Excellency Mr. Emilio Caballero, the former Cuban Ambassador to Doha, Dr. Jose Ramon Cabanas, Director of the CIPI Institute, and a group of workers in the field of diplomacy, media, sports, and art stars in Cuba.

Ambassadors, diplomats, artists, athletes, and media men will participate in the campaign to narrate the Qatari renaissance with its many and varied facets in a new way that targets a wide audience in all Latin American countries.

Major Cuban press institutions, media, and television channels will also participate in the campaign, which will broadcast programs on the comprehensive renaissance witnessed by the State of Qatar and the achievements it has achieved in various fields, and the historical and distinguished bilateral relations between Doha and Havana, in addition to broadcasting specialized films that talk about the initiatives launched by the network. Public international diplomacy, and its role in strengthening relations between member states of the network and establishing bridges of communication between peoples and societies in the world, in addition to its role in consolidating Qatar’s position as an attractive and leading tourist, cultural, and sports destination.

The campaign highlights the great and exceptional efforts made by the State of Qatar in providing events and activities that celebrate the country's culture and heritage.

The promotional campaign also targets the country's preparations for hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

On this occasion, Engineer Al-Shaibani, head of the campaign, stressed that international public diplomacy in Qatar has strengthened its prestigious position and proved its active presence in the world, by achieving a series of distinguished civilizational achievements in many fields, such as economy, media, sports, culture, and education, which were among the most important achievements in the process of development and the renaissance of the country.

He pointed out that the growing prosperity in the field of public diplomacy is based on the great legacy of Qatari diplomacy in many regional and international files and issues that it has accomplished at the regional and international levels in mediation between the concerned parties, entities, and states, through the convergence of views.

The Secretary-General of the International Public Diplomatic Network explained that the promotional campaign aims to promote the values of culture, history, and heritage in a more positive way in media programs in Latin America, according to a double exchange relationship that allows these people to learn about cultures.
