GCC Citizens Traveling to Qatar Exempt from Health Insurance Policy

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens traveling to Qatar are exempt from the mandatory health insurance policy, according to a statement by Dr. Yousef Al Maslamani, Medical Director of Hamad General Hospital, in a televised interview with Al Rayyan TV.

"The law does not apply for citizens from Gulf Cooperation Council, only to other visitors," said Dr. Al Maslamani.

In accordance with the Law No. (22) of 2021 regarding healthcare services regulation within Qatar,  all visitors should have a health insurance.

The MoPH had explained that the visitors’ insurance would cover emergency and accident services only, with a QR50 per month premium at initial issuance and upon visa extension.

Visitors can also obtain a health insurance policy that covers additional services, and the premiums for such policies will vary depending on the prices of the insurance companies.
