FIFA to Announce Saudi Arabia as the 2034 World Cup Host

FIFA is all set to officially announce Saudi Arabia as the host of the 2034 FIFA Men's World Cup on Wednesday, Dec. 11.

The announcement will be made during the FIFA Congress' virtual online meeting. The congress will also confirm Morocco, Spain and Portugal as hosts of the 2030 World Cup with Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay hosting celebratory games.

Saudi Arabia announced its intention to bid on Oct. 4, 2023, and a formal letter was sent to FIFA on Oct. 9, 2023.

Once confirmed, Saudi Arabia will become the second Middle Eastern country to host the FIFA Men's World Cup after Qatar hosted the 2022 World Cup.

A recent FIFA Bid Evaluation Report revealed that Saudi Arabia's bid has received a strong rating of 419.8 out of 500.

The Kingdom's bidding campaign's slogan is “Growing. Together” and reveals that the World Cup matches will be hosted across 15 stadiums in five host cities.

The cities will be Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Abha, and NEOM. Eight proposed stadiums will be in Riyadh, four in Jeddah and one in Abha, NEOM and al-Khobar each.

Riyadh's King Salman Stadium will be the host of the opening and closing matches of the tournament.

Saudi Arabia has been chosen to host the 2027 Asian Football Cup and the 2029 Asian Winter Games as well.
