Early Dismissal Approved for Qatari Employees on Voting Day

The Council of Ministers Secretariat General revealed that Qatari employees may leave work early on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, to participate in the constitutional amendments referendum. This early dismissal will only be granted if it does not disrupt normal operations.

Important Voting Opportunity

On October 29, 2024, H.H. the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani issued Decree No. 87 of 2024, calling on all citizens aged 18 and older to vote in the referendum. This referendum will allow Qatari citizens to weigh in on proposed changes to the country's Permanent Constitution.

How to Vote

The General Referendum Committee is urging all eligible Qatari citizens, both inside and outside the country, to make their voices heard on referendum day. Voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on November 5.

Citizens have two options for casting their votes. The first method is in-person voting, where individuals can use either paper ballots or electronic iPads at designated polling stations. Voters must bring their Qatari ID or Digital Qatar ID for identification.

For those unable to vote in person, remote voting is available through the "Metrash2" app, making it easy for citizens both within Qatar and abroad to participate.

Voting Process and Timeline

The voting system will be a simple yes-no format. Once the voting period ends, officials will begin sorting and counting the ballots, with results expected to be released within 24 hours.

This referendum presents an important opportunity for Qatari citizens to engage in the democratic process and influence the future of their constitution.
