Donald Trump Named the 2024 Person of the Year

Recently elected US President Donald Trump has been named the 2024 Person of the Year by TIME magazine.

This is the second time that Trump has received the honor because he received it the first time after winning the 2016 election.

TIME's Editor-in-Chief Sam Jacobs wrote in his letters to the readers that Trumo received the honor by "marshalling a comeback of historic proportions" and "driving a once-in-a-generation political realignment" that had reshaped the American presidency and US's role in the world.

The US president-elect rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday, Dec. 12 to celebrate the honor with his family members.

For his presidential term, Trump has promised to look "case-by-case" at the convictions of his supporters who rioted at the US Capitol in January 2021.

He has also promised to improve the US economy and substantially cut taxes.

For the 2024 TIME's Person of the Year, the editors considered 10 finalists, which included Vice-President Kamala Harris, the Princess of Wales, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

The US Prsident-elect was finally chosen because of the history he made this year by reshaping the American electorate, becoming the oldest US President, and becoming the first convicted felon to be elected President
