Charity 'Match For Hope' Raises Record QAR32.3 Million

The Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Doha witnessed an unprecedented gathering of former football legends and social media influencers on Friday as they joined forces for a noble cause during the 'Match For Hope' event, aimed at supporting Education Above All (EAA) initiatives.

Team Chunkz emerged victorious, defeating Team AboFlah with a final score of 7-5, marking a historic moment as the event raised an astounding QAR32,301,625 ($8,849,760) in a single evening.

The charity match, a collaboration between Q Life – a cultural platform under Qatar’s International Media Office – EAA, and the Qatar Football Association, drew a sold-out crowd, underscoring the overwhelming support for philanthropic efforts within the community.

The funds generated from the match will be directed towards bolstering EAA initiatives across six countries, namely Mali, Pakistan, Palestine, Rwanda, Sudan, and Tanzania, in a bid to advance educational opportunities and empower underprivileged communities.

Featuring an ensemble of football luminaries including Kaka, Roberto Carlos, Eden Hazard, Didier Drogba, David Villa, and Claude Makelele, alongside social media sensations AboFlah and Chunkz, the event captivated audiences both within the stadium and across various digital platforms.

The 'Match For Hope' spectacle attracted millions of viewers worldwide, amplifying the impact of the initiative and spreading awareness about the noble cause.
