The Doha Film Institute (DFI) is at the forefront of supporting emerging talent in the film industry through its acclaimed Short Script Lab. Designed for writers and directors with a passion for storytelling, this program provides a unique opportunity to develop short film scripts under the guidance of experienced mentors.

What is the Short Script Lab?

The Short Script Lab is a structured program that focuses on enhancing the skills of screenwriters from Qatar and the MENA region through an online scriptwriting lab. The lab will allow the screenwriters to complete the new draft of their original short film screenplay with guidance from experienced mentors. Participants engage in collaborative sessions, receive valuable feedback, and have the chance to refine their scripts, ensuring they resonate with audiences. 

Scripts that will be developed from this lab will have the chance to be nominated for Qumra Shorts, Qatari Film Fund, and Production Funding (MENA Region).

The application deadline is Oct. 6 and the lab will run from Dec. 9 to Dec. 21. Only eight writers/directors will be selected for the lab.
