Back to the Land of the Dead? Coco 2 is Coming Soon!

Disney and Pixar recently announced that 'Coco 2' is in the early development stage and slated for theatrical release in 2029.

The prequel's director, Lee Unkrich, is returning to direct the film with Adrian Molina.  The film producer behind the hit films 'Toy Story 4' and 'Inside Out 2' Mark Nielsen will produce this film. 

'Coco' grossed over $800 million at the global box office when it was first released in 2017 and won two Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score, therefore fans have high expectations from the sequel.

The film was about a 12-year-old Miguel who aspires to play the guitar because of his family's ban on music. On the Mexican holiday of Dia de Los Muertos, he travels to the Land of the Dead to uncover the truth behind the ban. 

The details for the sequel's plot remain unknown, nonetheless fans are highly anticipating this sequel.
