Food safety is crucial in that it helps protect consumers from the risk of food-borne illnesses, and whether you grow, process, transport, store, sell, buy, prepare, or serve food, you have a role to play in making sure that food is safe! The United Nations established World Food Safety Day in 2018 to raise awareness of food safety.
When is Food Safety Day Celebrated?
World Food Safety Day (WFSD) is celebrated annually on 7 June 2021. It was celebrated in 2018 for the first time.

World Food Safety Day 2022 Theme is “Safer food, better health”, it will highlight the role that safe, nutritional food plays in ensuring human health.

World Food Safety Day aims are the following:

How to Take Part in World Food Safety Day?
WHO is calling on everyone to join the World Food Safety Day campaign to ensure safe food for all. Below are some ideas to help you celebrate World Food Safety Day:

Host an online seminar.

Organize an event for the general public – concerts, festivals or fairs, food tastings or cooking demonstrations with a food safety message.

Engage on social media.

Organize a run, march, walk or dance to promote food safety.

Use radio, newspapers and magazines to generate awareness of food safety issues.

Invite people who grow, process, sell or cook food to talk about or demonstrate what they do and why food safety is important.

Document stories about food workers, farmers, health professionals or someone who has suffered a foodborne illness.
