India beat Sri Lanka by 82 runs in the group stage of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

India won the toss and decided to bat first at the Dubai International Stadium. The team's Harmanpreet Kaur scored 52 runs, Smriti Mandhana scored 50 runs, and Shafali Verma scored 43 runs, contributing to the team's total score of 172 runs in 20 overs.
On the other hand, the Sri Lankan team had no such luck as they only secured 90 runs before they were all out in 19.5 overs. The team's Kavisha Dilhari scored 21 runs, Anushka Sanjeewani secured 20 runs, and Ama Kanchana scored 19 runs, contributing to the team's overall score.
India's Arundhati Reddy and Asha Sobhana secured three wickets each while Renuka Singh secured two wickets, helping their team win the match by 82 runs.
Kaur was named Player of the Match for her excellent batting, which was key in helping the team secure its win today.
