Kuwait was represented by two restaurants in the 2023 Middle East and North Africa's 50 Best Restaurants List at the awards gala that took place in Abu Dhabi on Monday night.

The list was curated by creators at the 50 Best brand, a leading authority in global gastronomy and the international drinks scene. As the second edition of the Middle East and North Africa's 50 Best Restaurants List, the 2023 ranking of the MENA region's best restaurants was announced at a live awards ceremony in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on Monday, January 30th.

White Robata, a Japanese concept inspired by international flavors, won the best restaurant in Kuwait award as it ranked 42nd on the MENA Best 50 list. Located in the Jaber Al Ahmad Cultural Center and led by Chef Basil Al Salem, White Robata specializes in dishes cooked over the fire on the back of the Japanese robatayaki technique.

"Thank you for choosing White Robata! We are honored & grateful to have won yet again the title “Best Restaurant in Kuwait” and ranked 42nd best restaurant in the MENA region by @theworlds50best," the restaurant shared in a statement on their official Instagram.

Coming in place 50th on the list, Bonjiri was founded in December 2021 by Maryam Alnusif, inspired by her love for Japanese culinary traditions. The restaurant is established as a yakitori spot in the Salmiya district, specializing in Japanese skewers. 

Dubai-based Orfali Bros Bistro was named best restaurant in MENA , in the second edition of the top restaurants list, which is chosen by a panel of 250 anonymous voters, who can select seven restaurants each from across the region.

The 2023 list had 15 new restaurant entries and featured restaurants from 14 cities from across Middle East and North Africa.
