More than 7 million tons of rocks were used to build the breakwater as its construction began in 2001. Over 120 million cubic meters of sand was dug out from the ocean floor.

Speaking to CNN, Ali Mansour, Chief Executive of Palm Jebel Ali, showed a picture of The Palm Jumeirah way back in 2003 and its something you certainly wouldn’t expect. The picture shows large stretches of barren land, on which the majestic Palm now sits. Well, 20 years after construction the Palm now needs no introduction!

The View at The Palm Jumeirah, which offers a 360-degree view of the Palm Jumeirah, opened its doors to the public on 7 April 2021.
