U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that Qatar is actively working to “end this whole mess in the Middle East,” as the Gulf nation plays a key role in the ongoing Gaza truce negotiations.

According to Middle East Eye, Trump acknowledged Qatar’s diplomatic efforts, adding that the region is “doing relatively well” despite ongoing tensions.

Gaza Truce Talks: Latest Updates

Reports indicate that Hamas and Israel have reached an agreement in Cairo regarding the delayed exchange of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners for the bodies of Israeli captives.

Israel had postponed the release of 600 Palestinian detainees on Saturday, citing objections to Hamas’ handover ceremonies.

Steve Witkoff, Trump’s envoy to the Middle East, confirmed that an Israeli delegation is heading to the region for further negotiations, which are expected to take place in either Doha or Cairo.

“We’re making a lot of progress. Israel is sending a team right now as we speak,” Witkoff stated at an American Jewish Committee event in Washington.

Next Steps in Negotiations

Hamas has reportedly agreed not to hold public ceremonies when returning the bodies of Israeli captives, with the exchange now expected to take place on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the second phase of the ceasefire agreement remains uncertain, as Hamas demands that all previously agreed Palestinian prisoner releases take place simultaneously with the return of Israeli captives.

As regional diplomacy intensifies, Qatar continues to play a pivotal role in facilitating negotiations, pushing for a long-term resolution to the conflict.
