A film supported by the Doha Film Institute (DFI) recently received the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival, now DFI sets its eyes on the Venice Film Festival as five of its supported films will premiere at the event, which are:

City of Wind

This film covers the story of a 17-year-old shaman Ze in Mongolia. 

The film will feature in the Orrizonti (Horizons) category and it is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival as well.

Bye Bye Tiberias

A story from the Middle East, 'Bye Bye Tiberias' is a documentary about Hiam Abbas who returns to her Palestinian village after pursuing an acting career in France.

The documentary will also premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. 

Behind the Mountains

Another film from the Middle East, 'Behind the Mountains' is the story of Rafik who gets out of prison to take his son on a remarkable journey.

Sea Salt

The short film 'Sea Salt' is the third Middle Eastern project that the DFI has funded and covers the story of Nayla who is conflicted about leaving or staying in Lebanon.

The film will premiere in the Orrizonti Short Film Competition at the festival. 

Backstage

If you love the drama backstage, then you'll love this film, which is about a contemporary dance troupe 'Without Borders' touring Morocco.
