The Inauguration of Fuwairit Beach Resort
37 days before the World Cup Qatar 2022, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, and His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, President of Qatar Tourism and CEO of Qatar Airways Group, inaugurated, on Thursday, October 13, in the Fuwairit area, northeast of Doha, the Fuwairit Beach Resort, the destination The new world of kitesurfing.
The inauguration ceremony, which was attended by a number of champions of this sport around the world, included a tour of the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, the President of Qatar Tourism, and the CEO of Qatar Airways Group, who explored the most prominent landmarks of the Fuwairit area and the resort.

Also, during the ceremony, a group of turtles was released, in an initiative carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to return these turtles to their natural habitat, and as part of the resort's commitment to preserving the surrounding ecosystem.
In a statement on this occasion, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: "The State of Qatar is a multi-faceted tourist destination, and today, we unveil our latest tourist attractions to reaffirm our position as a global travel destination, Qatar Airways is keen to bring the peoples of the world closer through travel and sports kitesurfing comes to enhance our efforts and support the two sectors.”
He added: “We are pleased to host a group of the world’s leading names in the world of sport with us today, and we look forward to welcoming them again in 2023 when the resort hosts the Freestyle World Cup in Qatar, which will highlight the level of facilities and infrastructure at the resort of Fuwairit.
The resort features spacious relaxation areas including a swimming pool, yoga corner, padel courts, an outdoor cinema, and a modern gym. It also includes a total of 50 rooms, 40 of them overlooking the beachfront, where guests can enjoy peace and relaxation, which is part of the Hilton Tapestry Group, It aims to provide a vibrant experience in the lap of nature for the guests, especially the kitesurfing enthusiasts.
The resort will offer lessons for those wishing to learn this sport under the supervision of a team of specialized and internationally accredited trainers, and as of Monday, October 17, visitors will be able to book their stay in it through the website “Discover Qatar”.
Fuwairit Kite Beach is a purpose-built kitesurfing resort, about an hour's drive from Doha and Hamad International Airport, and represents an important destination for lovers of kitesurfing, which has become one of the fastest-growing sports in the world
It is worth noting that Qatar Airways announced last May the conclusion of a new long-term partnership with the international kitesurfing Association, to become the main partner and official airline of the World Tour until 2024. In cooperation with Qatar Tourism, the official tourism partner of the World Tour, the two sides will host the World kitesurfing tour competitions at the new beach resort in 2023 and 2024.
