Talabat Launches Electric Bike Pilot Program in Qatar
In November 2022, Talabat, the region's top local tech platform, in association with EV experts Rotor Mobility, announced the start of an electric bike pilot program in Qatar. This declaration reaffirms the company's continuous dedication to putting into practice strategies that aid in creating a more sustainable distribution system throughout the region by minimizing delivery emissions.
This most recent effort builds on the company's dedication to the Qatar National 2030 Vision for Sustainability, which supports dynamic economic growth with a reduced environmental impact. By setting up a temporary "hot swap" battery charging station and fleet tracking software using Rotor Mobility's market-leading VMOTO technology, Talabat can avoid the range anxiety associated with conventional EVs.

VMOTO is the market leader in this field and a B2B-focused Partner for delivery service platforms thanks to its "smart battery" condition reporting technology and industry-standard CANBUS and IoT technologies.
Francisco Miguel De Sousa, Managing Director of Talabat Qatar, stated: "We are proud to set out on this exciting new journey with our partners and take the lead in reinventing the delivery ecosystem in Qatar. In order to explore reliable, economical, and environmentally friendly delivery options that promote Qatar's National Vision 2030 for a sustainable future, this electric bike pilot test is the ideal next step for us as a business. We see a promising future for electric vehicles in Qatar as the need for online and q-commerce services expands, and we acknowledge our own contribution to this development."
Yousef Bazian, the founder of ESG Solutions and Rotor Mobility Qatar, commented on the project and said, "As our DNA is 100% electric, we are delighted to support Talabat on this journey. Talabat can achieve its services' mileage requirements while reducing expenses and emissions by utilizing our creative solutions. This places them firmly in the lead and promotes the development of a delivery environment that is more sustainable and clean, in line with Qatar's National Vision 2030."
Demetrios Melekos, of US Heritage Powersports and Jumla Automotive, spoke about the project and said: "The chance to cooperate with Talabat Qatar is the best-case scenario we could have wished for as the regional manufacturer of VMOTO products. We will assess EV substitutes for gasoline-powered internal combustion engines (ICE) in the real world together. It is important for research and development that the Talabat Team's experience is evaluating the performance of our vehicles. Production of VMOTO is expected to begin in the Qatar Free Zone in Q1 2023."
Talabat already adheres to industry-leading sustainability standards in accordance with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which has further demonstrated its dedication to making a difference and participating actively by calculating its yearly carbon footprint in Qatar.
As part of its plan for the future of delivery in the region, the organization also launched a number of sustainability-focused pilot projects, including the use of its autonomous delivery robots, or "talabot," in the Qatar Foundation and Msheireb neighborhood as well as the delivery of goods using electric scooters at various events, like the Lusail Outdoor Cinema.
The Talabat app is available for download via the Huawei App Gallery, Google Playstore, and iOS App Store.
