Six Qatari women were chosen in Forbes Middle East's annual list of the region’s most powerful businesswomen for 2023, including Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari Managing Director of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) ranked first in the country and 26th regionally.

Hana Al Rostamani, Group CEO of the First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), climbed two spots to land first place this year. Raja Easa Al Gurg, Chairperson and Managing Director of Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, and Lubna S. Olayan, Chair of the Saudi British Bank and Chair of the Executive Committee and Deputy Chair of Olayan Financing Company, rounded up the top three in the Forbes Middle East list.

The 2023 Forbes Middle East's list of the region’s most powerful businesswomen had representation for 27 nationalities. Qatar was the 5th most represented country on the list with 6 listees, after UAE (15), Egypt (12), Saudi Arabia (11), and Kuwait (8).

The six Qatari businesswomen who made the 2023 Forbes Middle East list are:

Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari

Ranking: 8th

Al Kuwari is the Managing Director of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) one of the main providers of secondary and tertiary healthcare in Qatar. She was also appointed Qatar’s Minister of Public Health in January 2016. She currently chairs, co-chairs, and takes part in several health, research, and advisory boards, including the Academic Health System International Advisory Board, the Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute International Advisory Board, and other committees at the Ministry of Public Health.

Noor Al Sulaiti

Ranking: 31st

Al Sulaiti is the CEO of Ooredoo Oman since may 2021. Ooredoo recorded revenues of $638.6 million in the same year and the company joined a global consortium of communications operators to provide cable landing facilities to “2Africa” at Salalah and Barka.  Al Sulaiti was the CEO of Starlink, in Qatar, and the general manager of Phono and FASTtelco in Kuwait.

Mira Al-Attiyah

Ranking: 49th

Al-Attiyah is the CEO of QNB Group since 2014, providing advisory and asset management services to corporate, government, and institutional clients in Qatar and globally. She was also worked as assistant undersecretary for trade affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and has occupied several senior positions within the Ministry and at the Supreme Council of Information and Communication.

Alanoud Bint Hamad Al-Thani

Ranking: 61st

Al-Thani is Deputy CEO & Chief Business Officer at Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Authority. She joined the company in 2016 and assumed her current role in July 2021. The company had $8.5 billion in assets under management, 1,400 registered firms, and employed 8,500 people, as of the end of 2021. Al-Thani was recognized by the World Economic Forum as a young global leader in March 2021.

Aisha Bint Faleh Al Thani

Ranking: 71st

Al Thani is the Founder & Chairperson of Al Faleh Educational Holding, the first Qatari educational institution to list on the venture market of the Qatar Stock Exchange in 2021. She also serves as a founding member of the board of the Patrons of the World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists.

Hanadi bint Nasser Al Thani

Ranking: 82nd

Al Thani is the Founder & Chairperson of Amwal; Founder & CEO of AL Wa`ab City Real Estate; Founding Chair of INJAZ Qatar. She founded her investment firm Amwal in 1998. In 2005, she founded AL Wa`ab City, a development of over 1.2 million square meters at an initial cost of $1.8 billion.

She is also the founding chairperson of INJAZ Qatar and Q-Auto, the sole importer of Audi and Volkswagen vehicles in Qatar.
