Here are the six films that are supported by the Doha Film Institute (DFI) and that will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival 2024.

The Brink of Dreams

The Egyptian documentary will be part of the competition at the Critics' Week at the Cannes Film Festival. The documentary is about a group of women in an Egyptian village who rebel against the people of the village by forming an all-female theater troupe. The documentary is a DFI-granted project. 

Rendez-vous avec Pol Pot

The film is about three French journalists travelling to Cambodia in 1978 after receiving an invitation by the Khmer Rouge regime. The film is a project co-financed by DFI and will premiere at Cannes Film Festival. 

Across The Sea

Nour emigrates illegally to Marseille and lives of petty crime and wastes his time away with friends by partying hard. The film is a DFI-granted project and is part of the Critics' Week. 

Locust

This thriller film is about a twenty-something man in Taiwan who runs a family restaurant and also is part of a night gang during the 2019 Hong Kong protests.

The film will also be screened at the Critics' Week and it is also a DFI-granted project. 

To a Land Unknown

A Palestinian refugee in Athens, Greece gets ripped off by a smuggler and sets out for revenge. The film will feature at 'Directors' Fortnight' and is also a DFI-granted project. 

East of Noon

This film is a DFI-granted project and will also feature at 'Directors' Fortnight'. The film is about a musician named Abdo who rebels against his elders and seeks freedom through his music. 

The Cannes Film Festival will run from Tuesday, May 14 to Saturday, May 25.
