Sheikh Jassim has offered £5.5 bn for the football club, which will include clearing £1 bn debt and providing a fund only for the club and the surrounding community.
Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe submitted their third bids in April when the Qatari banker made an offer to purchase 100% of Man Utd for a price nearer to £5bn. At that time, Ratcliffe's bid was thought to be for a stake of a little over 50%, which would leave the Glazer brothers, who collectively own a majority share, with a 20% stake.
The Glazer family valued the club at £6 bn when it first went on the market. The Raine Group has organized the sale for the Glazers.
