Sheikh Jassim, a son of Qatar’s former prime minister, launched the bid in February.
Concurrently, British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, owner of INEOS, made a final offer to buy the club, the value of which was not known, before the deadline set on Friday for the third round of bidding.
Sheikh Jassim's bid would make Manchester United the most expensive sports team in history by at least £200 million, surpassing the current £4.8 billion deal to buy the NFL's Washington Commanders but still below the Glazer's own valuation of the club at around a £6 billion.
The third competitor, Finnish businessman Thomas Ziliakos, announced that his second offer to buy the club is the existing one, refusing to submit a third offer.
