The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) announced that schools hours in Ramadan will last between three and five hours.

During the holy month, SPEA directed schools to assign less homework and conduct fewer tests.

“The school day does not start before 9am,”  and “It must not be less than three hours and not to exceed five hours, taking into account the educational stages and parents’ needs.” SPEA said in a circular.

Private schools in Abu Dhabi and Dubai have reduced school hours to five hours a day during the month of Ramadan.

Abu Dhabi Schools will start the day after 9:30am, and lessons must end by 3:30pm.

It was announced earlier that Ramadan is expected to begin on April 12, but the date depends on the sighting of the Moon, as the Islamic calendar is based on the lunar cycle.
