Qatar's Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has allegedly withdrawn from the bidding process to buy Manchester United, several sources reported on Saturday.

Sheikh Jassim had been engaged in the months-long bid for the English Premier League club and was reported to have made an estimated final bid of $6 billion. His only competitor for the bid was the British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Sheikh Jassim's offer was a cash bid for 100 percent ownership of the club, and a guarantee to pay its £1 billion debt.
The withdrawal will leave Ratcliffe in a stronger position, who is expecting to conclude a deal for a 25 percent stake in the club.
Jassim still wants a deal but has informed the Glazer family that there is no point in remaining in the bidding process following nine months of unsuccessful negotiations, the sources said, who asked not to be identified because the matter is confidential.
