Zakat Al-Fitr is a type of zakat due to Muslims, paid before Eid Al-Fitr prayer or before the expiration of the fasting month of Ramadan, and it is due to every Muslim who possesses food over their need regardless of age or gender.
A man must pay for his wife and his kids if they don't work or own money.
The basic principle of Zakat Al-Fitr is to take it out from most of the people's food, which is rice, and the amount is 2.5 kg, with the possibility to be paid as an amount of money.
The Qatari Zakat Affairs Department calculate the average prices of rice every year to determine the actual value of Zakat Al-Fitr.
Director of the Zakat Affairs Department, Saad Omran Al Kuwari, urged the public to pay the Zakat Al-Fitr to the department -- either through its offices across the country or through its website -- so it delivers it to the actual beneficiaries inside Qatar.
