As Ramadan approaches, officials in Qatar are cautioning residents against online fundraising scams designed to take advantage of people's generosity. With fraudulent donation requests on the rise, authorities are urging the public to stay vigilant.

In a joint statement, the Qatar Central Bank, National Cyber Security Agency, and Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority advised donors to contribute only through recognized and licensed charities.

Officials warned against responding to unsolicited donation requests via phone calls, emails, or social media—especially those using emotional pressure to solicit funds. Scammers often prey on goodwill during the Holy Month, making it crucial to verify the legitimacy of any fundraising campaign.

To combat fraud, authorities have launched a dedicated hotline (33618627) and encouraged residents to report suspicious activity via the Metrash app.

By staying alert and following guidelines, donors can ensure their contributions go to genuine causes, helping those truly in need.
