The ranking of Qatar University in the QS World Rankings 2024 has significantly improved, rising 35 spots from its previous position of 208.

This year's QS World Rankings added three new factors: sustainability, opportunities for employment, and the size of the institute's global research network. These indicate recent academic advancements by the institution as well as its efforts to address practical issues and have a positive impact on a global level.

President of the institution Omar Al Ansari said, “We have made significant progress in the QS World Universities Rankings, ranked 173rd for this year, despite changes in ranking methodology. This is a great reflection of the success we have achieved and really illustrates QU’s vast contributions and dedication to excellence.”

Additionally recognized in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023 are Qatar University's academic programs. The institution has won top honors in the Arab world, taking the top slot in the fields of Sports Science and Theology, Divinity, and Religion.

Qatar University is a public university with its headquarters in Doha. It was founded in 1973 and provides courses in a number of subject areas, including engineering, law, medicine, business, and economics.

According to a new draft rule that was revealed back in early April, only educational institutions ranked among the top 300 globally would be permitted to establish branches or campuses in Qatar, according to a top official who spoke earlier this year.

40,000 students currently attend the 34 higher education institutions in the nation, which include governmental, semi-governmental, private, security, and military organizations.
